Troubleshooting

Steam Workshop unavailable

Make sure Steam is running and AI Says was launched through Steam.

The game displays: "STEAM WORKSHOP UNAVAILABLE — Steam must be running and connected to use Community Chambers."

Item will not publish

Possible causes:

  • Steam unavailable — not running or not connected.
  • Workshop agreement required — accept the Steam Workshop legal agreement first.
  • Validation error — chamber fails level validation (missing spawn, duplicate objects, broken connections).
  • Upload failure — network or Steam UGC error during create/update.
  • Invalid preview — preview image missing or unreadable.

Chamber will not play

  • Download incomplete — wait for Workshop download to finish.
  • Corrupt item — unsubscribe and re-subscribe, or verify local cache.
  • Unsupported version — update AI Says to the latest build.
  • Missing dependency — for sequences, ensure all referenced Workshop chambers are subscribed.

Sequence reports unavailable chamber

The referenced Workshop item may have been deleted, made private, or may no longer be compatible. You can SKIP or EXIT SEQUENCE. Skipped entries prevent full sequence creator completion.

Creator completion expired

Gameplay edits after you completed a chamber or sequence invalidate the stored completion hash. Re-complete the current version in a playtest, or ignore the badge — it is informational and not required for publishing.
